Home Site
We were given a choice of three sites to build our passive solar homes on. We took data from each of the three sites, such as the relative humidity, sun angle, and temperature. In conclusion, we chose one site that we think will benefit our passive solar home.
Sun Angle
All three sites have the same angle of the sun. The maximum angle that the sun reaches is 75 degrees which is in mid June. and in mid December the maximum angle it reaches is 28 degrees. in The summer the sun appears to be higher in the sky because the northern hemisphere is tilted more towards the sun and in the winter the southern hemisphere is tilted more towards the sun which makes it look like its lower in the sky. In the picture below, you can see that the sun is at different angles at different times of the year.
Climate
Climate is what weather a certain location has over a long period of time. Novato has a climate that is known as a Mediterranean climate. This means that Novato, has relatively dry summers and cool wet winters.
Precipitation
The average amount of precipitation in Novato is 25.49 inches. The wettest month is usually December. The driest month is usually July.
Wind Patterns
In a typical year, wind speed vary from 0 to 17 miles per hour, in Novato. This is a calm breeze. Wind gusts rarely go over 21 miles per hour. The wind usually comes from either the North or South, depending on a lot of factors.
Site 1
Site 1 has about 100% sunlight.
Temperatures are: 19 degrees C, and 66 degrees F.
The relative humidity is: 44%

Site 2
Site 2 has around 100% sunlight as well.
Temperature are: 19 degrees C, and 66 degrees F
The relative humidity is 44%

Site 3
Site 3 gets about 70% sunlight.
Temperatures are: 18 degrees C, and 64 degrees F.
The relative humidity is 42%

The relative humidity is 42%
The Site We Chose
We chose lucky site number two! With 100% sunlight, a good view to the public eye, and a reasonable average temperature, site number 2 would make a great place to put our passive solar home. Its relative humidity is a comfortable 44% The sun angle is just right to heat a room up in the winter, with the right fixings.
